Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Africana Studies at Stony Brook University invites applications
for a Visiting Assistant Professor position, preferably a specialist in the Caribbean, beginning the Fall Semester 2008. Faculty will teach two courses a semester.
A Ph.D. in hand is required at the time of the appointment.

Stony Brook University, a SUNY campus, is located in mid-Suffolk County, about 60 miles east of New York City. Stony Brook’s enrollment is 22,012 students, of which about 14,288 are undergraduate students. The Africana Studies Department, founded in 1968, offers both a major and a minor. Class size ranges from 40-70 students, with an average AFS class size of 45-50 students.
