The Department of Africana Studies of Rutgers University at New Brunswick invites applications from senior scholars in the social sciences and humanities. This appointment will be the first of three new hires in the department. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship in his/her field of expertise and a broad range of intellectual engagement. Their record should allow for an appointment at the level of Full Professor or above. We are especially, but not exclusively, interested in applicants who can contribute to the department’s three core areas: 1) Africana history and philosophy; 2) society, politics, and policy; and 3) arts, media, and culture.
