One-year, full time, Limited Term Instructor of US History, Augusta University

The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Augusta University seeks a full-time, limited term instructor faculty position in US history to begin August 6, 2018. All periods and specializations are welcome, but preference will be given to candidates specializing in African-American history or digital history. Minimum qualifications are a MA in History; PhD in History or related field preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The incumbent will teach both halves of the US History survey course, and a course in his or her specialty.

Augusta University, located in historic Augusta, Georgia, is one of only four public comprehensive research institutions in the state of Georgia.  Founded in 1828, the university includes ten colleges and schools with nearly 9000 students and over 1000 full time faculty.  It houses the nation’s ninth-largest and 13th-oldest medical school, the state’s sole dental college, an aligned and integrated health system, a growing intercollegiate athletics program, the highly respected Hull College of Business, and the diverse Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, among other units.

The department offers undergraduates degrees in History and Anthropology, and teaches a broad range of core social science and humanities courses.

 

Responsibilities/Duties

Teaching US History courses as assigned; holding office hours, providing timely grading and student feedback; and adhering to all academic policies of the University.

 

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
