Pitzer College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French and Spanish starting in Fall 2019.
We are looking for a colleague with a strong teaching record in both cultural studies and language teaching, with research connecting the Francophone and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, and wide expertise in communities of African descent in the Americas.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (MLLC) field group and will collaborate with colleagues in other field groups to develop courses to strengthen Latin American Studies across the curriculum. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, as well as experience and interest in teaching language at all proficiency levels.
Candidates’ profiles should reflect humanities and/or social science perspectives on issues of contemporary relevance to Latin American Studies, and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and scholarship. Native or near-native proficiency in French and Spanish is required. Evidence of promise in scholarship and a PhD in French, Spanish, or a related field is required.
