Spotlight on Ms. Nicole Amarteifio, Creator, Director & Producer An African City Honoree for AAI’s 2017 Leadership in African Media & Arts Award

The Africa-America Institute will bestow the 2017 Leadership in African Media & Arts Award to Nicole Amarteifio at the AAI 33rd Annual Awards Gala on September 19th, 2017 in New York City.

Called the Shonda Rhimes of Ghana by Marie Claire, Nicole is redefining the narrative and perceptions of African women, with her popular web-series, An African City. The web-series dubbed Africa’s ‘Sex and the City’ is set in Ghana’s capital, Accra, and follows five modern African women who return to the continent after spending much of their adult life abroad.

Ms. Amarteifio is among several other highly acclaimed entrepreneurs cited in The Financial Times 2015 “Top 25 Africans to Watch” list, after a successful launch of the hit web series ‘An African City.’ The show hit 1 million views within the first several weeks of its release and is considered one of Ghana’s most successful YouTube channels.

Earlier in her career Nicole was the first ever social media strategist for the Africa Region at The World Bank

Nicole has been featured on numerous media outlets including , CNNBloomberg, and Maire Claire Meet “the Shonda Rhimes of Ghana”
