Visiting Lecturer, Africana Studies

The Africana Studies Department at Wellesley College invites applications for a two-year position as Visiting Lecturer in Africana Studies from Fall 2018 to Spring 2020. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in the social sciences, with a specialty in Black religious expression and/or Africana/African diaspora studies from an Africana studies perspective. The position is open as to rank; teaching will commence in September 2018. We are seeking candidates who are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. Candidates should have proven capability or demonstrable promise with regard to an active, theoretically-based research agenda. A record of superior performance in undergraduate teaching and a strong publication record are both strongly desirable. The successful candidate will teach at both the introductory and advanced levels. The teaching load is five courses per year.
